No Heat Curls with a Headband: Step-by-Step Tutorial
I love curly hair, but I have so much hair that curling it takes forever. I also hate putting that much heat on it. So I tried wrapping my hair around a stretchy headband before bed. The next morning, I had the curls I wanted without picking up a curling iron.
My hair doesn’t hold a curl for long, so I use gel or another styling product when I need it. I’ll show you exactly how I wrapped it, starting with dry or slightly damp hair.
Start with dry hair (you might need slightly damp). Place a stretchy headband around your head as shown, then part your hair where you want the part to be when you take the headband off.
Take a small section of hair near your face. Use a smaller section for tighter curls or a larger section for looser curls.
Lift that section up, wrap it over the headband, then pull it down behind the band.
Add a little more hair to the section you just wrapped. Bring it over the headband and pull it through again.
Keep adding hair and wrapping it around the headband until you reach the back of your head. I did one side at a time. When you have a little tail of hair left at the back, roll it up and tuck it under the headband.
That’s it! Have a glass of wine and go to bed. Leave the headband in overnight while your curls set.
Good morning! Have your coffee first. Your hair can stay wrapped in the headband until you’re ready to take it down.
When you’re ready, gently lift the headband off the top of your head. Take your time and unwind any hair that catches. Don’t pull hard, or you could tug on your hair and loosen the curls.
Use your fingers to separate the curls until they look the way you want. I just finger-combed mine, then used a little hairspray to tame the flyaways and help the curls hold.
Enjoy your new curls!
