I have had a pretty vase sitting empty on the shelf for a long while now and I haven't had anything to spruce it up with. I ran across a tutorial on how to make crepe roses balls over at Pixel & Ink and I just happened to have a roll of crepe paper. It was the perfect solution!
Now this was a practice run so I didn't get serious about my supplies. You will need 1-2 rolls of crepe paper, a hot glue gun and a Styrofoam ball. As you can see from the picture below I didn't use hot glue and I didn't have a Styrofoam ball... (I substituted with a ahem... foil ball!) You will need to cut your tissue paper into 24 inch strips. Do several at one time so you won't have to stop to make more strips.
Take your strips and crumple them so they will have more of a "rosy" appearance.
Start at one end and roll tightly for about 3-4 turns, pinching the end together.
After about 3-4 rolls start making looser rolls. Keep one end pinched together.
Keep loosely rolling and pinching until you get to the end of your strip. Glue the end piece to the rose.
Now if you want to make a ball you will need to make several roses and glue them onto a Styrofoam ball. Yes, I'm a little ghetto, I glued mine to a foil ball! Hey, it worked.
I left the bottom 1/4 of my ball bare so I could place it in my vase.
There you go... another quick and easy craft! You can make several balls of different sizes and place them in a basket... Very pretty!
