I'm not completely sure where I saw this idea, either Pinterest or just while I was browsing, but I saved it in my brain to use later. Of course I forgot all about it for months until today when I was in my son's room and couldn't take the stains any longer! We have WHITE carpet, 3 dogs, several boys (one being a toddler) so yes we have stains! We even had our carpet professionally cleaned a few months back and the stains are still there. Well I thought, what have I got to lose? Just a few stains, which is fine with me!!! This is a very easy stain remover of ammonia, water, a white towel and an iron with "steam setting". Ok, enough chit-chat, let's get to it! First things first, ammonia is a toxic chemical so open the windows and WEAR A MASK!!! You may even put on a pair of protective goggles to protect your very important eyes! Definitely don't have your pets or children in the room when you do this!
Mix HOT water and ammonia in a 1:1 ratio in a spray bottle. I used 1 cup of each. Grab your iron and several white towels (colored towels may fade into the carpet... I cut up a white t-shirt too).
***Please forgive my crappy picture quality! My camera was about to die and I was just trying to get a few pictures before it shut down!!!
Here's one of the lovely stains, it has been there for over 6 months.
Spray with your odorous concoction. (I let it saturate in for about 20-30 seconds)
Cover with your towel. (I used a t-shirt here, but I felt a towel worked so much better) Make sure your iron is set to steam and iron the towel. I ironed on a new clean spot on the t-shirt about 3-4 times.... and.... VIOLA!
The stain came out! (I never moved the red ball during this process so you could see where the stain was)
This is the nastiness from the floor!
Here is another stain, and the after picture was just after one "iron". (I think I said HOLY SHIT at least 5 times while doing this!) Remember!!! Be very careful doing this and don't get your face too close to the steam, ammonia is a very strong chemical!!!! I must say, I was pretty pleased with the results and I hope you have as good of results that I did. Don't forget to leave a comment, I would LOVE to hear if this worked for you!
